Checklists: what they are and how to use them

A checklist is a list of items you don't want to forget, ticked off as you go. It takes the load off your memory in situations where a missed item is costly: packing, a move, a recurring routine. Let's cover how a checklist differs from a to-do list — and gather a few ready-made templates.

Checklist vs to-do list

A to-do list is separate tasks with separate due dates ("call", "pay", "meet"). A checklist is the items inside a single task, checked in order and reused: "pack the suitcase" isn't twelve separate tasks — it's one checklist of twelve ticks.

So checklists are best kept not as scattered tasks but as ticks inside one task. That's how Nuvo does it: any task can hold a checklist — nested items with checkboxes — and they don't clutter "Today".

Where to keep checklists so they're actually at hand

A paper checklist gets lost, and a note in a file won't remind you. It's easier when the checklist lives where the rest of your tasks live — and is always in your pocket. Nuvo runs right inside Telegram: a checklist opens in the same chat you're already in all day, and the task itself can be set to any date.
